Service point description

Hietaranta beach right next to the city centre is one of the most popular beaches in Helsinki that attracts visitors throughout the summer season. You can check the water quality, temperature and blue-green algae situation of the beach via the ulkoliikunta.fi map service during the summer season. Lifeguards supervise the beach during the beach season. In addition to changing shelters, showers and toilet facilities, the beach offers a range of services and activities, such as a café and an ice cream kiosk, a fairway for light water traffic, an outdoor gym and basketball and beach volleyball courts. Hietaranta beach also has accessible swimming opportunity during the lifeguards' service hours. Please ask the lifeguards for more details. How to get there: There is a car park near the beach, as well as an accessible parking space. You can also reach the beach via public transport or with a city bike.

Lifeguard on duty

Services: changing shelters, outdoor shower, indoor shower, toilet, shower wheelchair, fairway for light water traffic, outdoor gym, basketball court, beach volleyball court, café and an ice cream kiosk. The café building's toilet facilities, dressing rooms and indoor showers close at 19:30, but the beach also has changing shelters and outdoor showers that are open round the clock.

Accessibility: The beach is accessible when the beach has lifeguard supervision. A carpet is spread out for wheelchairs and there is also a floating bating chair on the beach. These are available on request from the lifeguards.
